January letter emailed 02/01/2021

Dear Parents
A very Happy New Year to you all.As we start this New Year facing a period of uncertainty, I wanted to reassure you that over the next few months I will do my absolute best to keep us dancing! Unfortunately tier 4 restrictions mean that face to face classes are not allowed to take place. When we move to tier 3 face to face lessons can resume.

This means that I will return to teaching classes remotely, via zoom, from Monday 18th January. For the first 3 weeks these classes will be free of charge to make up for lessons cancelled in November. Following this I will invoice you for all future classes.  Classes will cost £3.50 per 30 minutes per student. I understand that remote dance lessons do not work for every child. Therefore, if you wish for your child to opt out of dance lessons, I ask that you let me know this after the initial 3 weeks.  There won’t be any online teaching over February half term.

Please see attached a new zoom time-table. Zoom instructions will be emailed over the next few weeks. For those students who were due to take exams in January/February this year, unfortunately these have been cancelled. However, I would like to move students up to the next grade as soon as possible. If your daughter would still like to take the exam, then I can try and look into booking a summer session in July. Alternatively the ISTD may be holding exam slots in London so you may be able to take your daughter to London to take the exam. I understand how frustrating this is for you and your daughter, and I share your frustrations too.
If you have paid the exam fee you will be fully refunded. Please can you let me know if you are happy for this to be deducted from your dance fee payment for this term?
I will as always, do my absolute best to keep the students dancing and motivated in what is a challenging time for us all.Stay safe and hopefully I will see you all very soon.Best wishes,

Miss Marie

When we return to face to face classes dance classes week commencing 19th April 2021

Dropping Off and Picking Up at the Cornwell Centre

When dropping your child off, please do this to the left of the main doors. When picking your child up, please do this to the right of the main doors. There will be a hand sanitiser outside the door, for your child to use.  I will make a barrier down the corridor, creating a natural path in and a path out.  If you arrive at the venue before the start of the lesson, please wait in the car with your child.  When the children enter the building, I ask that parents do not enter too.  However, if for any reason you need to enter the main hall, you will need to wear a face mask and use the hand sanitiser provided. I will be waiting at the doors to receive all the pupils.  Likewise, when collecting, I will send the pupils out only when I can see an adult waiting outside to collect them.  To accommodate for this, I will have a 5 minute gap between a lesson starting and a lesson ending.  Please be mindful that the entrance and exit is directly into the car park.

Dropping Off and Picking Up at Spencer’s Wood Village Hall

When dropping your child off, please use the Front entrance.  If, for any reason you need to enter the main hall, you will need to wear a face mask and use the hand sanitiser provided. There will also be a hand sanitiser outside the door, for your child to use. When collecting you child, please wait for them outside the door that enters the car park. To ensure safety, I will supervise the pupils leaving the building and will only let them leave when I can see an adult waiting to collect them.  If you arrive at the venue before the start of the lesson, I ask that you wait in the car with your child.  To accommodate for this, I will have a 5 minute gap between a lesson starting and a lesson ending.  Please be mindful when you are parking at the venue.

Dropping Off and Picking Up at the Westwood Club

When dropping your child off, please use the normal entrance and I ask that parents do not come into the building.  If, for any reason you need to enter the main hall, you will need to wear a face mask and use the hand sanitiser provided. There will also be a hand sanitiser outside the door, for your child to use. When collecting you child, please wait for them outside the door, which is referred to the front entrance. This is the door which faces onto the field area.

General Information

To limit transmission of the virus, I ask that your child only brings with them their change of dance shoes and a named water bottle.  They do not need anything else. (Younger children must not bring any teddies, soft toys, comforters etc.)

I really want to discourage the use of the toilet areas. Obviously, if your child needs the toilet during a dance lesson, they will be able to go.  However, please make sure they go before arriving at either of the venues.  I will make sure I clean the toilet after it has been used.

At all dance studios, there will be no waiting areas for parents or siblings. You must drop off and collect your child at the exact drop off and collection times as stated in the dance timetable (see below)

If your child attends street dance, pre-primary ballet, modern or contemporary they must bring an exercise mat with them.  These can be purchased online or from sport stores.

Children attending modern, contemporary or street dance must also wear ballet shoes, jazz shoes, pumps or Bloch socks.  They can-not wear black soled trainers or foot thongs

It goes without saying that if your child is displaying symptoms of the virus THEY MUST NOT ATTEND DANCE LESSONS.  I can-not stress how important this is.  Likewise, should a child test positive for the virus, you must inform me immediately.  You must also comply with the government’s test, track and trace system.  I will ensure that I follow Public Health England advice if there is a confirmed positive case. I will keep attendance registers of every class and will supply contact details to the test, track and trace system if I am asked to do so.
